Multiple Hurt as Turbulence Strikes Delta Plane Landing at Sydney
A number of individuals were hurt after a Delta jet traveling from Los Angeles to Sydney experienced rough air this past Friday.
Flight DL41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it landed at the Sydney airport, a company official stated. Several cabin crew members were injured.
Local paramedics reported they evaluated a total of five people, and took three to a medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries that included back pain and head pain. The patients' ages spanned from their 30s up to the 70s.
This marks the newest example of aircraft experiencing severe turbulence, with experts saying that climate change is a significant contributor.
On board were 245 passengers and fifteen staff members on the aircraft, the official noted, clarifying that the plane touched down "without further incident" at Sydney Airport at 06:48 local time on Friday.
Paramedics indicated they received a call just only 180 seconds ahead of the plane touched down, and response teams were waiting on the tarmac.
